US University Application: Timeline & Key Dates

Planning on heading to the States for your undergraduate degree? Stay well-prepared and cognizant of all the key dates with our essential application timeline.

📌 1 August - Application Portals Open

This is the start line! The Common Application and most other application portals open (e.g. Coalition). This is your chance to start early, review the requirements, and craft compelling essays.

[Tip: Start your essay drafts early and refine them over time.]

📌 1 November - Early Decision and Early Action (ED/EA)

A crucial date for many aspirants. This is the deadline for most Early Decision and Early Action (ED/EA) applications. Be sure to check out the university’s website to confirm the specific deadline.

Remember, ED is binding, whereas EA isn't.

📌 Mid-December - ED/EA Results Announcement

Most ED/EA application results get announced by mid-December.

📌 1 to 5 January - Regular Decision Deadline

If you're going the Regular Decision route, circle these dates in red! It's the last call for submitting most applications. (Note: Do keep an eye on individual university deadlines as some might vary)

📌  March to Early April - Application Results Released

Most Regular Decision results are delivered between March and April since schools require a response by May 1. It's important to regularly check your emails and the university portals for updates.

Preparing for US Admissions Success

Whether you're aiming for Early Decision or Regular Decision admissions, being aware of these timelines ensures a smoother application journey. Always remember to consult individual university websites for the most accurate and up-to-date information. With diligent preparation and keen attention to these dates, you're setting the stage for a successful application season. Best of luck to all applicants!
