About the UCAT (& UCAT ANZ)

The University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) is a vital assessment for students applying to medical and dental schools in the UK, Australia, and Singapore.

Maximum Score: 2700 (for the 3 cognitive subtests)
- The Situational Judgement subtest is scored separately from Bands 1-4, with Band 1 being the highest
- Note: Before 2025, the UCAT consisted of 4 cognitive subtests and was scored out of 3600. However, the Abstract Reasoning subtest has since been removed due to its lower predictive validity.
Format: 4 subtests (3 cognitive + 1 Situational Judgement)
- Subtest 1: Verbal Reasoning (44 MCQs)
- Subtest 2: Decision Making (35 MCQs)
- Subtest 3: Quantitative Reasoning (36 MCQs)
- Subtest 4: Situational Judgement (69 MCQs)
Test Duration: 111 minutes
- Subtest 1: 22 minutes
- Subtest 2: 37 minutes

What is considered a good UCAT score?

For international students, a score of 2250+ with Band 1 in the Situational Judgement subtest is recommended for top medical schools.
